So as King Kenny prepares for his first match back at Anfield since returning as Liverpool manager, I thought it would be good to look back at his last match of his first reign as Liverpool manager…ironically against Everton!

It was on the 20th February 1991 that Kenny took on Everton in the FA Cup 5th round replay, having drawn the tie at Anfield three days earlier.

The video below shows the 90 minutes of normal time of the match…

Unfortunately, the video does not include extra time, however, Liverpool took the lead yet again through John Barnes in the 103rd minute only for Tony Cottee to equalise yet again in the 114th minute. The match finished 4-4.

Two days later Kenny Dalglish resigned as manager of Liverpool.

Fast forward 20 years and King Kenny is back in charge of Liverpool and is preparing to face Everton again.  This will be his first match back at Anfield and he his guaranteed a tremendous reception when he walks out from the tunnel.  The man has provided numerous moments of sheer joy for Liverpool fans over the years and the fans are awaiting in hungry anticipation for him to do it again!

I've been a Liverpool fan since I was 5 years old (before that I was just clueless...some say I still am). At that time, Bob Paisley was our manager, Kevin Keegan was scoring for fun and winning the league came naturally to us. 5 European Cups later and we have seen many joys and heartbreaks along the way. But then to me that is what being a true Liverpool fan is all about...it's about the emotions, the experiences, the joys, the pain, the hope, the despair...it's all part of the experience of completely supporting the team you love.
